The united states is full of bullshit They make plans then steal land To modernize the world they say Sure, blame them then bomb them Straight to hell so no one can tell There’s another way to do this It’s just human nature i always hear “The reason things are fucked Is because humans suck” Survival of the fittest the excuse Survival of the murderers the truth The united states is full of bullshit The united states is full of shit The united states is full of bullshit When are we gonna call them on it?

Grandparents 04:00
You thought your children would live like kings and queens And their children live like kids of kings Even better, and we did for awhile You filled their lives with futuristic things That then devolved into necessities And the heirs of progress can’t feed themselves Now that we’re trapped inside your dream How do we get back to a world where we’re not sleeping Please say that you’re coming to wake me With lead in our limbs and sleep in our eyes We strive and fail to recognize The real World from what’s inherited lies But oh rescue us back to the world of your youth Before the thread was lost connecting us To sanity reality All that’s uncertain now is which disaster will befall us first Our whole lives lived in the time after the last stone’s been cast We haven’t understood our place on Earth Enclosed inside an artificial world So we ignore all signs that life is dying all around us We have to tell the truth to kids alright If they want to live they’ll have to fight And they’ll never have the lives their grandparents dreamed of Now that they’re trapped inside our dream There’s no way to get back to a world where life is thriving They’d beg us if they knew what we’re hiding With lies in their heads and love in their eyes They embrace the World mesmerized By the beauty that they don’t know is dying But oh rescue us back to the world of your youth Before the thread was lost connecting us To sanity reality All that’s uncertain now is which disaster will befall us first Our whole lives lived in the time after the last stone’s been cast (adapted from poem by Queen Elizabeth I as performed by Medieval Baebes) Our care is like our shadow laid bare beneath the sun It follows us at all times and flies when we pursue it We love and yet are forced to hate Can’t see we let death overtake

Time is the hunter and time is the cage we’ve locked ourselves in That we don’t recognize and so we think of ourselves free It doesn’t matter to the one who’s circumscribed The borders of the possible, that we can’t see All the good intentions in the World won’t do a damn thing Cause we’re still breathing air released in 1965 We haven’t even yet felt the consequence Of the mistakes we thought we’d left behind If we had forever, we could make it If we had forever, we could get there But time is the hunter and time is the cage Time is the hunter and time is the cage For everyone who’s waiting for the sign that won’t ever come To tell them now it’s right to fight against the state at last You’ll never get permission to abstain From the rites of passage into denial It’s not like Civil Rights, the Labor, or the Women’s Movement Earth won’t consider that real change always takes time Ours ran out already long ago We don’t fight cause we’ll win but to affirm life In the face of evil that thinks it can cheat the living out of our birthright If we had forever, we could make it If we had forever, we could get there But time is the hunter and time is the cage Time is the hunter and time is the cage

Shriveled up and cracking off Not enough energy to keep yourself together It’s happening to your neighbors too There’s less and less of the living left Every day Young ones don’t make up for the ancients They don’t have enough to give and no one to give to them We’re singing “Nothing’s gonna change my world” Pretending it’s old times But things are gonna change so fast You wouldn’t believe it – never Shriveled up and closed off Our hearts are turned away from The ones who need our help most Obsessed with moral purity While we leave the assaulted to Fend for themselves Nice words don’t make up for inaction We need real warriors and to hell with cowards They’re singing “Nothing’s gonna change our world” Pretending it’s old times If someone you love is under threat You do anything to save them Burned up burned up there’s nothing to chew And nowhere to go when you wanna hear nothing Dried up dried up there’s nothing to drink And nowhere to go when you wanna sleep in the real dark

Education 04:46
The last people who remember the last people who were free, will soon die. Then there will be no one on this Earth who has been or who has even talked to someone who has been free.

Civilians 05:07
We’ll do anything to keep the fear away Why aren’t we screaming about our sealed fate Use up the oil, the air, water and soil Then we go, we’ll go we’ll go we’ll go We’ll go wild I’ve gotta wonder What are we gonna do When the last drop is used The dominant culture of production Has filled up our mouths with all its common sense Kill the peoples who won’t get down on their knees Destroy, destroy, hide, disremember their communities We’ll never feel What it’s like to be free Culture of slavery Humanity’s crushed by efficiency We can’t conceive life beyond the system’s needs Days of boredom spent aside Ourselves so we forget we’re alive I’ve gotta wonder We don’t have much time With all life on the line What’s happening here we can’t walk away Deluding ourselves to what we all face We’re alive now but we won’t always be What do you live for When you can’t escape what’s coming? Will we come together Confront those who want us to hide And fill the emptiness inside

Bless You 04:29
The Earth is sucked dry and skinned We’ve torn its insides out No future now They make and break all the rules Tell stories then ignore A new life just walked through the door (it’s a must that we trust in ourselves to choose well) Egos will not be fossilized They don’t believe it yet Tortured by regret But they don’t stop Even what they can Living in the moments Before the end Ground feels still to us Flying toward the sun This ecological collapse In slow motion Catharsis of our pain and love Brought on by make believe While sacred order’s breached We’re all pacifists in name That’s why we can’t stop The violence that gets us What we got (it’s a must that we trust in ourselves to treat each other well) Powerful in between selves Uncomfortable with life Don’t question our right But we don’t stop Even what we can Living in the moments Before the end Do we even want To save life on Earth Or are we resigned to The culture’s death urge

I’m sorry i’m pretty if i wasn’t would you leave me alone? Would you ignore me instead of telling what I could change to be perfect? Would you give me back my brain, my time, my confidence? If the World wasn’t so beautiful would you leave her alone? Let her grow wild in places you didn’t want her and watch her ignore Your boundaries with awe, not fear Am i your girlfriend your baby? How would you change my cunt? My thighs, my hair, my feet, my ass, to suit your desire? How would you eviscerate mountains? Shave forests off the Earth? Force rivers to flow right where you want them? Cleanse the World of the animals and people who get in your way? End these lives to make games for you to play. No, it’s ok – i like you.

I heard life surrendered at last And i just looked down When i saw it was true We were too busy To notice the killing spree While earth fought for her life We were looking something up online The time has come and gone When we can have the things we want Without killing ourselves and everything else But if we had known What was happening now Or what was coming soon Would we still believe That we couldn’t live without The modern things Would we still be scared to Give up the machines to Save our own lives (from English folk song “Thorneymoor Woods”) In Nottingham assizes are gone and past Us three young lads go free at last The bucks and the does will never roam free A poachers life is the life for me A poacher i will always be. Fol de rol, tora lie day

Saw a shooting star fall in my backyard Burned a wall of light around the house All the sky bowed over and leaned in closer To what went wrong They had a vision but went back to their places to play The music that ignites it all Turned under bedsheets Dreaded the coming day Looked out the window and was blinded by a white light I looked down and saw there was no first story Only fire below If i can’t go to work i’ll stay in bed and maybe myself Become a star Smoke spreading further obscured the hills to the East Heard there are places where they haven’t seen the sun for days But you wouldn’t believe it, said it all looked clear And you came up with any reason to deny There’d ever been a sun anyway

about

"I said to her, 'This culture hates everything, doesn’t it?'
'Yes,' she said. 'Even itself.'
'Unless it’s stopped it will kill everything, won’t it?' 'You know the answer to that one.'
'And the culture’s not going to change, is it?'
She said, invitingly yet firmly, 'I’ve been waiting for you to say that.'
That was the best thing she or anyone could have said to me. It helped me to understand that I need not fight despair, that despair is a normal and reasonable response to a desperate situation. It helped me to know that my response—breaking into sobs over the killing of so much beauty—is normal, and expected, and that to not feel these losses manifests another type of loss, that of one’s own humanity, one’s very heart. The moment I realized all of this was the moment, I think, that this culture of hate, the rule of Noah, lost its power over me. That was the moment I passed through, beyond, over to the other side of darkness."

about

Una and Her Lamb California

UHL is an acknowledgment of the ecological disaster we are facing. It is our moral obligation to build a culture of resistance to the system causing the destruction. Such a culture needs people to talk and sing and make art about the fact that a few humans are taking the lives of everyone else on Earth. Here is one contribution. What is your reaction to this crisis? Tell the world how you feel! ... more
